How did you actually check the sun before buying a lake or waterfront place?

We're studying how people who buy cottage or waterfront property figure out how much sun the dock, deck, or beach really gets — before we build anything. This is a genuine research survey, about two minutes, real stories only.

Nothing to buy here. We're not selling a report or a subscription — just trying to understand real experiences before we decide whether to build something. Your answers help us learn, that's it.

1. Where are you in a waterfront/cottage purchase?

2. Think of one specific property — yours, or one you seriously looked at. How did you actually find out how much sun the dock, deck, or beach would get through the day, or across the season? Roughly when was this? Real details help most: what you did, who you asked, when it happened.

3. Did the sun or shade ever surprise you — more afternoon shade than expected, sunset blocked by trees on the neighboring lot, too hot on the dock, anything like that? What happened?

4. What did figuring it out actually cost you — a second visit, extra time, money, anything you did instead of just trusting the listing?

5. (Optional) Have you seen a "Sunscore" style number on a listing site like Redfin? What did you make of it?
